【摘要】:Thefireperformanceofamaterialorproductisaffectedbyacombinationofitsfire-test-responsecharacteristics.Twoofthemostcommonlydeterminedfire-test-responsecharacteristicsofcushioningmaterialsarethesurfaceflammability,inaccordancewithTestMethodD3675,andthespecificopticaldensityofsmoke,inaccordancewithTestMethodE662.Cushioningmaterialsusedinupholsteryapplicationsarepotentiallyexposedtoleachingoftheactiveingredientsdueto(1)watersolubilityofthetreatingagentsor(2)exposuretohighhumidity.Inviewoftheimportancethatthefireperformanceofthecushioningmaterialsusedinupholsteryapplicationsremainconstantthroughouttheirintendedservicelife,thistestmethodprovidesameanstotestforthepotentialchangeintwofire-test-responsecharacteristicsduetoleaching.1.1Thisfire-test-responsetestmethodcoversaprocedureforleachingcushioningmaterialswithwateranddeterminingchangesintwospecificfire-test-responsecharacteristics:(1)thesurfaceflammability,inaccordancewithTestMethodD3675,and(2)thespecificopticaldensityofsmokegenerated,inaccordancewithTestMethodE662.1.2Inviewofthewidevariationinpotentialserviceconditions,itislikelythatresultsofthisleachingtestwillnotgiveadirectcorrelationwithserviceperformanceforallapplications.However,thetestmethodyieldscomparativedataonwhichtobasejudgmentsastoexpectedserviceofcushioningmaterialsandisusefulinresearchanddevelopmentwork.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandardisusedtomeasureanddescribetheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessmentofthematerials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificprecautionarystatements,seeSection7.
