【摘要】:Coagulatedpentaneinsolublescanincludeoil-insolublematerials,someoil-insolubleresinousmatteroriginatingfromoiloradditivedegradation,sootfromincompletedieselfuelcombustion,oracombinationofallthree.Asignificantchangeincoagulatedpentaneinsolublesindicatesachangeinoil,andthiscouldleadtolubricationsystemproblems.Coagulatedpentaneinsolublesmeasurementscanalsoassistinevaluatingtheperformancecharacteristicsofausedoilorindeterminingthecauseofequipmentfailure.5.4Highvaluesofcoagulatedpentaneinsolubleshavebeenassociatedwithpluggedoilfilters,leadingtoopeningofthebypassvalveandcirculationofunfilteredoilintheengine.Thiscanleadtoincreasedpistondeposits,increasedbearingwear,andprematureenginefailure.FIG.1PaperFiltrationApparatusp>1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofcoagulatedpentaneinsolublesinusedlubricatingoilsbyapaperfiltrationmethod.1.2ThistestmethodwasoriginallydevelopedbytheFuels,Lubricants,andEnvironmentalCommittee(FLE)oftheLocomotiveMaintenanceOfficersAssociation(LMOA).1.3Thistestmethodisusedprimaryfortestinguseddieselengineoilsfromrailroadlocomotiveservice.Itmaybeappliedtoothersamplestypesbutprecision,bias,andsignificancehavenotbeendeterminedforsamplesotherthanusedrailroadlocomotivedieselengineoils.1.4Thistestmethod,ingeneral,doesnotcorrelatewithTestMethodD893onInsolublesinLubricatingOils,sinceitusesseparationbycentrifugationandamoreconcentratedsolutionofanti-coagulant.1.5ThecorrelationbetweenthistestmethodandAppendixA4(EnhancedThermalGravimetricAnalysis(TGA)Procedure)inTestMethodD5967hasnotbeeninvestigated.1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificwarningstatements,see7.2,7.3,and7.4.
